Ananya Sharma

The Department of Economics, Hindu College organized an Alternative Classroom session with Ms Archana Aggarwal, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics. Seeing participation from other departments like Political Science, Sociology, etc, the session involved understanding the Marxian framework for crisis, with a special emphasis on the 2008 Economic Crisis.

Ma'am gave the students a primer on the circuit of capitalism (M-C-M') as well as a brief conceptual introduction to  the crisis of profitability and crisis of realization.

Ma'am also traced the history of capitalism and its crises - on the 2008 Economic Crisis, she used a short term, medium term and long term approach to explain the events. Unregulated financialisation, housing boom bubble and growing inequality were discussed to also understand the crisis.
