Despite having the current online transaction windows and foreign cryptocurrencies, do we still need e-rupee?

Yes, it's important to have a national digital currency since the market is so volatile people are reluctant towards cryptocurrencies and they are not able to develop faith in crypto.  so if there is a national issuing authority, it would be easy for people to have faith in the currency because people tend to have a sense of trust towards government, government banks. currency etc. It will give them a sense of security as they believe the government must have taken necessary measures and there is no scam.

I'm in favour of the introduction of the e-rupee as global currencies like crypto are open to illegal use like terror funding, trafficking, etc. As an emerging global power, we should not delay in participating in this global trend. If not in the near future, cryptocurrency and Bitcoin will also come under regulations. Every move has its own positive and negative effect but first, we need to focus on the problem at hand, indeed privacy is also important but without regulation, the introduction of e rupee is not of any worthworth.

Yes, we still need to introduce the e-rupee despite the usage of online transaction windows and foreign cryptocurrencies, as the global blockchain of cryptocurrencies and digitalization of the economy is taking place. And India should take a leading step in that direction as India has proved with its long- term vision of digital India. It was just a dream a few years back to even imagine a cashless economy, a parallel economic system that has been gaining momentum over the years, revolutionary aspect of this dream of digital India was the unified payment interface, i.e. UPI. The step towards a rupee seems like the next strategic step in the economic progress of India, e rupee as an introduction to the crypto world in India seems like the next convenient step as India always has been a country where the economy has been guided by the state, which is well justified by the government's decision to tax foreign private cryptocurrencies, add the decision to introduce cryptocurrencies, the next step of "Digital India".

I don't think we need e rupee right now, because he has seen what consequences technology carries with itself such as online theft. It also creates an inequality between the device or smartphone owners add the people who don't have such devices or cannot buy one.

Yes, we need e rupee as it is a substitute for cash and it is different from UPI. UPI transactions reflect instantly but settle down later between the banks, e rupee works on blockchain technology and gets directly done through RBI so no intermediary in between which reduces cost and time. Moreover, it reduces the printing cost which is incurred by RBI and it is immune to getting torn or damaged. Instead of storing cash in physical form one can store cash in digital form and use it as legal tender. It is more secure than banks and it makes cash management easier for the government. Government can easily check the money given through subsidies is being used as per order it is even better than the current JAM Trinity. Further, people sending remittances through abroad can purchase digital rupees from their currency and send it to people in India without having intermediaries such as banks which take up large commissions for transactions, just says a lot of money and bypasses the SWIFT dominance.

Yes, despite the abundance of cryptos and online transactions e-rupee is needed. Add nearly all the cryptos are unregulated and are not backed by any real assets but just promises and can collapse anytime just like the FTX trash recently so having an e-rupee will be better as it will be backed by the government reserves.
