You know what the world needs in a time like this? I am not talking about peace, or economic development. I am not talking about a cure for cancer either. And I sure as hell am not talking about respite from the Pakistanis and their relentless pursuit to drag India down into the hell hole where they have already carved a niche for themselves. 
What the world truly needs in a time like this is an alien attack. Shocked? Don’t be. There should be attack by an extraterrestrial race, say for instance, the Chitauri, to prove their dominance. For once, it will make the people identify themselves for what they truly are- Earthians.  I am all for nationalism and patriotism. But it is quite unnerving how people don’t place as much faith in scientific concepts like Evolution or Relativity, as they place on man-made concepts like nationalism or patriotism. Before we are Indians, or Pakistanis or Americans, we are a species-Homo sapiens. And if it takes an alien attack to make people understand that, so be it. 
Here’s a little trivia. 43 million years ago, the Indian and Australian plates were joined together to form the Indo-Australian Plate. It has been 3 million years since these plates have separated, due to the stresses induced by the collision of the Indo-Australian Plate with Eurasia along the Himalayas. Indian genes had got mixed with that of Australian aboriginals more than 4,000 years ago- centuries before the Europeans colonized Down Under. Clearly, Indians and Australians are more related to each other than they would like to be.  Yet, for reasons unknown, the former consider themselves racially superior to the latter, and the animosity between these two “races” will throw you off guard. Countless Indians have been the victims of assaults and robberies in Australia, simply because they didn’t belong to a particular race. It is not so much an act of cruelty, as an act of sheer stupidity and ignorance.
During the Nirbhayacase, women all over the world saw themselves as “women”- not as Indian women, or American women or African women. It made them feel for another being of their own kind. But this epiphany was only short-lived. We again went back to being people from different countries, with a list of economic objectives to achieve at the cost of other countries.       
Whether aliens exist or not is simply a speculation. As of now, the aliens are the spiteful acts of violence, intolerance, rape, terrorism which have emotionally and physically crippled us more than anything else ever can. “And no single superhero can withstand these villains”. Thus arises the need for avengers and you don’t need any special powers to be one. So, let’s make empathy and unity our Mjolnir, for anybody who wishes to strive towards peace is worthy enough to wield this weapon.
